Tips for Living in a Small Space with Kids

Living is a small apartment is never an easy thing to do even for a couple, and if a child or two is added to this equation, you are surely to end up with a great headache. Therefore, Girish Avhad hereby gives you a few tips on how to live in a small place with kids to enable you to make most of what you have:

Don’t Store What’s Not Needed
Art pieces by your kids, or old souvenirs you bought while touring with your spouse may mean a world to you, but don’t let them take up the extra space. Start throwing out the things you don’t need.

Downsize the Items You Have

Usually every household has a lot of extra home appliances that they don’t really use or whose function is well executed by other appliances too. Declutter your house by preparing a list of items you have and removing the items which are not in use or not required.

Don’t Have Multiples

It is great to have multiples of everything you own, shoes, towels, cups and even random showpieces until they start cluttering your home. Get rid of the habit of buying everything in multiples and try to use those items which can be useful for everyone in the family.

Store Everything in Baskets

How much you try to reduce your household items, there is always a bunch of stuff that cannot cut down, especially when you have a kid. So what you can do is store everything in baskets to keep your house clean and economically use the space.

Think Vertical

Install high display shelves and store items such as toy, stuffed animals, clothes etc. in them. This kind of vertical arrangement allows the optimum use of less space and gives a nice look to your house too.

Use Multi-Purpose or Foldable Furniture

Furniture is required no matter the size of your house and number of people living in it. Therefore try to find alternative furniture items that are either multipurpose or foldable such as futons.

Make Use of Community Places

Trying to manage everything in a small house all day long is tiresome. Expand your home to include community spaces to catch a much needed break and get access to interesting opportunities and space. Go out and use community places like parks, libraries for entertainment and recreational activities.
